Windows 10 Update is stuck at 2% - Fix

Operating system updates are as important as your antivirus software. They keep you safe from OS exploits and saves your crucial OS files and kernel from getting hacked. If  you are using Windows operating system and running a legitimate version with an active internet connection, you'll find the updates come frequently to fix multiple security vulnerabilities in the operating system.

However, sometimes due to corrupt OS files, this gets stuck. It is essential that your system gets the required update. Many times, updates are stuck at 2% and go unnoticed. This post is to resolve that with minimum steps.

Important disclaimer: You need to have administrative access to your computer, else it will not work. This is how I solved this problem in my computer and this may or may not work for you. If you are not a tech savvy person, I recommend connecting to Microsoft support and not try this by yourself.

Follow these steps -

1. Close all windows.

2. Click on Cortana and type "cmd". to open command prompt On the result page, right click and open as administrator This step is important as you can do it ONLY as an administrator,

3. In the Command prompt window, type - sfc/scannow

4. Let the process run till 100%

5. Save your work and restart your computer.

6. Now try updating your computer. it should start and run the update flawlessly.

Alternate: You can use the Windows 10 upgrade assistant to force update your system.
